  • The University

    The University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (ULPGC) is located on the island of Gran Canaria, the most populated of the Canary Islands, with about 750,000 inhabitants, 450,000 of which live in the capital city, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.

    Its geographical situation (near the Eastern coast of Morocco), its European historical and cultural heritage (as a part of Spain since 1490 and of the European Union since 1986), and its tropical and mild climate (between 17-20 degrees in winter, and 25-30 in summer), have all made of the Canary Islands a melting pot of different cultures and a region mainly focused on tourism, trade and services, with a specific economic regime both within Spain and the European Union.

    Although some of the constituent colleges and faculties date back to the early seventies, the current organisation and structure of the ULPGC was established in 1989. Nowadays it offers to more than 20,000 Spanish and foreign students a wide number of studies, from Literature, History or Arts, to Computing, Architecture, Engineering or Economics.

    Organisation of the studies in Economics

    The undergraduate programs in Economics, Tourism and Business Administration offered by the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration are among the most demanded by students in the Canary Islands. The Faculty is located in the well-communicated Campus of Tafira, 15 minutes away from Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.

    The Degree in Economics was first introduced in 1995, and counts already with about 600 students. It was inspired in the most successful Spanish and European Programs in Economics, and is currently conducted by a strongly motivated and highly qualified teaching-staff coming from academic and professional circles with a pronounced international profile in their background. Despite its recent creation the studies have already gained a well-known and increasing reputation among local businesses and institutions.

    The Departament

    Since its inception, the DAEA has opted for excellence in research and teaching in the area of ​​applied economics as their primary commitment to society progress through the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.

    Currently, he teaches DAEA first, second and third year in the Faculty of Economics and Business, Faculty of Law and the School of Industrial Engineering.

    The administrative headquarters of the Economic Analysis Department is located at Plant 2 of Module D of the Faculty of Economics and Business.
